As the fashion circus that is London Fashion Week gets set to roll into town (two weeks and counting!) I have been revisiting some of my favourite London collections for AW09- and KTZ is up there with Richard Nicoll and Dame Viv. Starting as shop in London’s Soho KTZ was founded by the talented St Martins graduates Marjan Pejoski (anyone remember the now infamous swan dress Bjork wore to the Oscars in 2001? Well he designed it. Yes my brain has the annoying ability to retain masses of pointless fashion trivia) and Sasko Bezovski, who launched their in-house label shortly after.

Their lookbook is a visual treat, with some great backstage shots, that could have come from a Stephen Sprouse shoot circa 1983. The collection (entitled Future Ghost Tribal) features hoods, dresses, skirts and trousers that literally groan under the weight of hundreds of gold baubles, oversized denim, statement jewellery…and an exaggerated purple biker jacket. Deliciously gothic Future Ghost Tribal takes inspiration from a myriad of sources; referencing everything from New York street style to tribal patterns (with some 90’s grunge thrown in for good measure)- this is a collection that should be worn with plenty of attitude.

And if that’s not enough to tempt you, KTZ’s eclectic take on the modern curiosity shop (think Victorian tiles, bordering-on-ridiculous chandeliers, and quirky interior products) in Goldbourne Road is most definitely worth a visit…

And what’s inspiring them for SS2010? ‘Galactic high, American football and crushes’…look out for a futuristic, space age take on collegiate sportswear.

KTZ will show at London Fashion Week on 22/9/09.
