Reebok Freestyle

The Reebok Freestyle Stylist series is a unique collaboration programme, working with the worlds premiere cutting edge stylists.

Fashion capitals London, New York, Paris, Hong Kong and Munich are each working with the most relevant and pioneering stylists from their territories to create artworks which will be displayed at exhibition during a gallery world tour throughout the summer.

Reebok introduced the Freestyle trainer 27 years ago and created a whole new category in sports fashion. The Freestyle was the first womens trainer to be worn as fashionwear and defined the style of a generation- think Flashdance aerobic chic!!  With its slimline silhouette and bold design focus, the Freestyle quickly became a must have fashion piece and was adopted by many 80’s celebrities including Cindy Crawford and Paula Abdul.

Two years ago Reebok re-introduced the Freestyle in celebration of its 25th Anniversary. A range of limited edition styles were issued and sold out worldwide. The Freestyle was firmly back on the scene and has recently been seen on the likes of Scarlett Johansson, MIA, Santogold, and Agyness Deyn.

The Freestyle Global Stylist Series 2009 celebrates individual and inspirational women. Each city has selected an empowered, trendsetting and revered Freestylist who embodies the spirit of Freestyle to create a series of artworks based on their interpretation of the iconic shoe.

The artworks will be displayed in gallery, launching in their home town, and will then be taken on a global tour and showcased worldwide.

The Global Freestyle Stylist Series moves to London on 31st July, with a launch event at the Reebok Seeding Lounge in Shoreditch, having partnered up with the notorious Namalee, the creative brains behind the phenomenally successful SUPERSUPER magazine. There's no one quite like Namalee - she's an original - a pioneering multifaceted artist combining fashion, music and performance to create a visual and aural sensation based on her own created universe, Namazonia.
