Those in possession of memories of elephantine proportions may recall Ronzo’s Crunchy, those who frequent the streets of Shoreditch will have, no doubt, seen the monster, whose sole purpose is to survey London’s financial district malevolently. Never one to rest on his proverbial laurels, and certainly not content with simply providing the Recession with it’s very own mascot, Ronzo has created ‘Pity of London’, mini Crunchy’s if you will, who adorn bespoke plinths on the streets of London. Rather handily, these coincide with the official news that the Recession is over.

Ronzo explains, ‘Like the Griffins of old, these sculptures have been cemented into the streets of London's financial district as markers, this time not as a geographical boundary, but a social one representing the end of the worst recession in a generation. Each sculpture consists of a little silver Credit Crunch Monster sitting on a 1,2 meter high plinth. These Monsters have feasted on the fabric of our society leaving lasting teeth marks in our once shiny Pound and filling their pot-bellies until they need a bit of a lie down.’

Ronzo has also been busy, as his street art can also be seen across the Atlantic in New York, which saw him ‘vandalise’ the city in a hectic four-day stint, which included fly postering and concrete installations.
