OneTaste Collective

8th November

It’s about this time of year where I start to get the blues, with the clocks going back it is the official indication of the end of the British summer. Not that we had much of one, it is funny as a nation obsessed with the weather there is but one consistent force, the rain. It has now descended upon us and the nights draw in. We shut out the memories of long warm nights, fires, dancing in the grass with the sunrise. We pack them in boxes and scuttle back to our dark days.

If like me, you are missing the grass (or mainly mud) and the open fields of the summer festivals you are in for a treat. OneTaste Collective are opening their door on Bedford Hill in London on 8th November.

These guys got together after the festivals this year, hand picked musicians and poets creating a diversity of sounds.

With a special performance from Newton Faulkner, it sets a precedent for the event.

Acts include the enigmatic Joe Driscoll with his looping playful sounds. The melancholic Jamie Woon, swooning his audiences with his elastic voice. Portico Quartet the Mercury nominated jazz improv group. Stac, a new soul singer from the ominous Brit School.

And so many more musicians, Nick Mulvey, Jono McCleery, Speakers Corner Quartet, Bridgette Amofah, Gideon Conn, Daisy, FM Umlaut, Yamit Mamo, Elova, and of course the great and wonderful, The Hat.

And then there is the spoken word, they have the quick Brummie, Polarbear, who weaves elegant stories around his rhythm. Excentral Temptress who’s talents seem to be endless, MC Xander, the unexplainable beatbox machine, John Berkavitch, Inua Ellams, and David J.

You better be excited, bring your wellies and waterproofs, it’s going to be a wonderful day, where you can feel the air against your face once more and listen to the cream of the festival season.

This will give you a taste of what is to come...
